Hand-picked black pepper from Zanzibar with an intense, complex aroma. The peppercorns come from small-scale cultivation on Pemba Island and are carefully harvested and selected by hand. Thanks to the tropical climate and natural farming methods, the pepper develops its characteristic combination of spicy heat, floral notes, and delicate fruitiness.

Freshly ground, Zanzibar pepper is particularly suitable for meat dishes, grilled vegetables, dark sauces, mushrooms, or as an aromatic finish on warm dishes. Its intense aroma also harmonizes perfectly with high-quality olive oil and fleur de sel.

Taste

Strong, aromatic, and complex with spicy heat, floral nuances, and slightly fruity notes.

Origin & Cultivation

The pepper comes from Pemba Island in Zanzibar and is grown in small-scale permaculture systems. The pepper plants grow together with other plants such as mango and clove trees in a natural mixed cultivation.

Usage

Ideal for seasoning meat, vegetables, mushroom dishes, dark sauces, and Mediterranean cuisine. For a particularly intense aroma, grind fresh just before serving.
