2016 Van Volxem "1900" Riesling Sekt Brut Traditional Method · Brut · Saar (Mosel)
Elegant, complex, and expressive: A Riesling Sekt from the steep slate slopes of the Saar.
With the "1900er" Riesling Sekt Brut, the Van Volxem winery revives the great tradition of German Sekt from the Imperial era – an age when German Sekt was featured on the best wine lists in Europe. The 2016 vintage comes from carefully selected Riesling grapes from old vines growing on sparse, mineral-rich slate soils.
Aged using traditional bottle fermentation:
The second fermentation takes place – entirely in the style of great champagnes – over several years on the lees. This gives the Sekt depth, complexity, and a particularly fine mousse.
A Sekt for special occasions – enjoyed on its own or as a festive aperitif. A true showpiece for the Saar region and an ideal companion for discerning connoisseurs.
